FILMU Support
A camcorder that turns every shot into film. If something isn't working, check the answers below.
I want to allow camera, microphone or Photos access
If you denied access, tap Allow camera in Settings on the camera screen, or go to iPhone Settings → FILMU and allow Camera, Microphone and Photos.
FILMU asks for the camera when the camera screen first opens, for the microphone the first time you record a video or your voice, and for Photos the first time you save. It only uses Add Photos Only access and never reads your existing library. Photos you edit come only from the system photo picker.
How do I turn the date stamp on or off?
Tap ⚙ on the camera screen → Timestamp to choose a style (VHS, VCR, digital, LED, dot) and a corner. It's off by default.
Stamps are added only when you shoot photos or videos, never when you edit a photo from your library or export a captioned video. On tall 9:16 frames the stamp keeps clear of story overlays.
A call came in or I left the app while recording
Videos can be up to 60 seconds. If you go to the Home Screen, or a call or Siri interrupts while recording, FILMU saves what you've recorded so far and stops. When you come back you can pick a voice effect and save it.
Can I keep my music playing?
Yes. Your music keeps playing while the camera is open and while you record. Music coming from the speaker may be picked up in your video's sound, so pause it or use earphones if you don't want that. You can't record during a phone call or while another app is using the microphone.
How does VOICE work?
In VOICE, pick a photo or video and tap MIC to record up to 60 seconds. Choose Original, Radio or Walkie-talkie, and FILMU turns it into a short video. The screen stays on while you record, and if a call comes in, the voice recorded so far is kept.
My photo won't load
Photos and videos stored only in iCloud show a loading indicator while they download. If it fails, you'll see a message: check your connection and pick it again. Opening the original once in the Photos app makes it faster.
Does editing change a photo's date?
No. Edited photos keep the original photo's capture date and location, so they appear next to the original in Photos. The original stays unchanged; the edit is saved as a new photo.
FILMU is using a lot of storage
FILMU doesn't keep a separate copy of your photos and videos; it saves them only to Photos. Temporary files made while creating videos are cleaned up when you close the screen and the next time you open the app.
How do I delete my data or account?
FILMU has no login or account, and never uploads your photos, videos or voice. Deleting the app removes its settings (favorite filters, stamp settings and so on). Anything you saved to Photos stays in Photos, where you manage it yourself. See the Privacy Policy for details.
